Tóg – Meaning To Build. A hackerspace for Dublin

April 10th, 2009

Over the past few months a group of technology enthusiasts have been working hard on creating a hackerspace for Dublin. The group, initially consisting of local 2600 members has grown to include other interested technology enthusiasts. They are planning to have a bootup space opened by May with expectations for a larger space soon after. With membership only costing €50 a month for full access to the club and its activities its a a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to work with and learn more about technology with like minded people.

A hackerspace is in essence a club for people interested in working with and learning about technology. This community coalesces under the shared ideal of  a love of technology and making in general. Similar to any social club, the TOG members hope to create a space where its members can meet and build a community around which to purse their interests.

A recent article in the Irish Times interviewed some of the TOG members and does an excellent job of representing the ideals and interests of the club. They are currently on the hunt for a space to work in and are always looking for new members so if you are interested head on over to their current website (hosted by the global hackerspaces wiki) or subscribe to their mailing list and let them know you’d like to take part.
