Palm drops Folio

Looks like Palm has been dealt a side swipe due to the emergence of cheap light weight laptops heralded by the Asus eeepc.

In a statement on his blog, Ed Colligan has announced that they will not be delivering its ultra-lightweight laptopesque Folio device. A wise move in my opinion, a $600 device has no real market when there is a possibility to buy a fully featured lightweight laptop for half the price.

  Just splurged on an impulse buy. Heard through the wires that openmoko launched its completely open source mobile phone on the market. Without thinlong I went on and bought the dev kit and phone for the princley sum of $567 (including shipping). Its that damn exchange rate!! Dollars are so cheap now [ ... ]
