Openmoko FreeRunner – Limited Release

July 1st, 2008

The good people at Openmoko are drumming up interest for the 2nd revision of their mobile phone called the FreeRunner.

They’ve set up a wiki page for group purchases where people from different regions can club together in groups of 10 for a discounted price.

If you want to be included post a comment here and/or add your name to the Dublin section on the wiki page.

What do you think Patrick? How long should it be left to reach the “10″ mark?

  3. BOFH Says:

    Count me in as well

  4. Alex Says:

    Count me in too

  5. Éamon Ryan Says:

Hi, me too. Sounds like a way better deal than I’ve found so far :)

I’m in Cork though so I’d have to make a trip to collect mine I guess.

  6. Sean O'Donnell Says:

doh! changed some settings on the backend of the blog to make it easier for people to post comments and managed to knock off new comment notifications.

It was a great surprise to see so many people signed up, woo hoo!
8 out of 10 and counting, should hit 10 shortly.

  8. Bjarni R. Einarsson Says:

Count me in as well! I noticed that some people are listing extras as well on the wiki. I’ll be doing the same, as I’d like a debug board. Obviously if this is a hassle I’ll just order it myself later. My username on the wiki is HerraBRE.

  9. Sean O'Donnell Says:

    woohoo! We hit 10 :)

  10. Anthony Says:

I’d be in too. I guess this I need another nine folk …?

  11. patrick Says:

The chosen one… he has arrived!
    LOL :-)
You’re number 10 Anthony cos someone dropped out. We have a full complement to go ahead and order now.

We had an offer from Pulster – http://pulster.de for units sans extras but with free shipping and a 2 year warranty for €299 apiece. The concensus is that this is a better deal than buying directly from Taiwan because the warranty is better, the price is cheaper (shipping costs) and the extras aren’t worth much anyway.

If you want accessories, you can order these direct from http://pulster.de or I can order them when I order the 10 units.

  12. patrick Says:

FYI, if anyone still wants in on the group buy post a comment and leave your name on the wiki. Pulster – http://pulster.de will allow us to buy any number of units over 10 for €299 apiece.

  13. Stas Says:

Hi, could you count me in?

  14. patrick Says:

Certainly, I’m not closing off orders for a while. I’ll email you details for transferring payment

  15. Stingray Says:

Can you count me in too please?

  16. Rory McCann Says:

Hi, I just saw this now. is this still open?
